It’s a Cover!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! I hope you and your loved ones have a special day together and have a chance to honor those being celebrated today.

Great news! I’m so excited to give you a sneak preview of the cover for The Heart of Everything!   A cover reveal is one of the most exciting parts of my author journey. After 3 years of writing and editing and revising the manuscript, all of that work coalesces into a picture, a representation of the story. The first impression for the reader.

Of course I want it to be wonderful. But how to choose the right thing?   My journey with The Heart of Everything began with two words—sacred geometry. A vast subject. Then I tackled another vast subject— the ocean. Hugely important since Rigel (the heroine) spends time in a community at the bottom of the ocean.

My first idea for the cover involved sacred geometry. The image floated in my head for months and the initial design looked good. But I wanted more. I wanted to portray the ocean with all of its sea life.

So I found corals and algae and fish and sea stars and put those all together. And I loved that too.

Almost every day I’d see new book covers on Facebook or BookBub and become entranced with those designs and want to copy them. I changed my mind again. And again. At last a dear friend suggested I look to my heart for the answer. So I did. And the result was such a surprise, but exactly the right thing.

I hope you love it too! Let me know what you think.
